At Falcao, We sought out the finest Podengo Pequeno's available in order to enjoy the sport of Dog showing. With over 17 years of Experience breeding High Quality European line German Shepherds (Schutzhund), so I have very high Standards for breeding. We are now developing a line of superior quality dogs to compete at the highest levels of dog sport. Each breeding is planned with long range goals in mind because we are one of the VERY FEW experienced breeders in the US that is working to develop a sound bloodline of superior type and character.
Every breeding age dog here at Falcao has been Veterinarian Tested free of Luxating Patella and Legg-Perthes. While we breed for Good health, we also concentrate on specific goals we intend to achieve in each breeding such as; Structure, Substance, Character, Topline, Tail set, Angulation etc. We breed for superior quality animals that will set a solid foundation for the long term benefit the breed. Falcao matches the puppies that best suit the needs of each family because we take the time to evaluate each of our puppies.
We breed to produce puppies for ourselves and only when we have serious people on our waiting list. We do not breed our males to outside females since our males are used exclusively with our own females. Unlike others in the US, we do not incest breed or produce litters for the sole purpose of making a living off the dogs. My husband is a Federal Civil service employee (USAF retired) and I am a High School Science/Math Teacher (USAF Veteran). All puppy money is used to care for our breeding stock and off set some of our show expenses when possible. Our dogs are a Hobby, they are not a business, however I am not running a charity so puppy costs are not negotiable.
Due to the rare nature of this breed, All Falcao puppies are sold as Companions. Even if a dog does not turn out to be a top show dog, they still make wonderful companions. Show quality cannot be properly evaluated until puppies are 7 - 12 months of age. We make NO Guarantee of Show quality under this age. We can only advise which ones we think have potential. - The only way to Guarantee a dog is show quality, is to purchase one at 7-12 months of age.

Puppies are placed at 10 weeks of age.

Most Falcao dogs are 10 - 11.5 inches tall.

Puppies are hand-house raised and played with every day until they leave Falcao.

We take weekly photos and YouTube Video's so everyone can enjoy watching our puppies grow up.

Podengo Pequenos can be exhibited in AKC Companion events at this time such as: Agility, Rally & Obedience. They are also eligible for AKC-B conformation matches if the breed has been included. Podengo Pequeno's are approved to move into AKC Misc. Classes Jan. 1, 2011.
